First Things First: The Key Requirements

In order to access Office 365 Mobile from your Android phone, you will need to meet two key requirements:
  • You will need to have a qualifying Office 365 subscription plan that features the Office 2013 desktop application. You can access this subscription plan from the Google Play Store on your Android smartphone. Once you download and install the Office Mobile for Android, all you need to do is sign into your Office 365 account using your username and password. Once you login, the app will automatically be activated.
  • You will also need an Android phone that is running with Android OS 4.0 or better.

Is there a Limit to the amount of Android phones that Office 365 can be Installed on?

The majority of Microsoft Office 365 subscriptions will give you the ability to install Office Mobile on as many as five mobile devices. Do note that this does not include a Window Phone device because these phones come with a pre-activated version of Office Mobile already installed.
With an Office 365 University subscription, you will be able to install Office Mobile on two of your mobile devices.

Setting Up Office 365 on Your Android Phone

Once you have downloaded the Microsoft Office 365 app to your Android phone, you can begin setting it up by following these steps:
  • Sign In ? You can use either your Microsoft Account that is associated with your Office 365 Home Premium or Office 365 University subscription, or an Organization account for other Office 365 accounts.
Once you have signed in, you will see the last documents that you worked on from either your computer that is running the new Office, or your phone. These documents will appear on your recent documents tab. Office 365s roaming accounts make this possible, and allow you to have easy access to the most current versions of the documents you have worked on.
On the Locations tab, you will be able to see all of your connected cloud storage locations. You will also be able to add additional locations, like SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro and SharePoint sites.
  • Using Office 365 Mobile with your Android Phone
Getting around Office 365 on your Android phone is pleasantly easy. Directly from the home page, you will be able to easily go between your recent documents and your cloud storage locations. You will also be able to create new Word and Excel documents.
Under the New Documents tab, you will be able to create a new Word or Excel document right from your Android phone. There are templates here that will help you get started creating a new document quickly and easily.
Using Word
With Office 365 Mobile, you will be able to read, edit and create brand new Word documents. Optimized for the smaller screen of your Android phone, the documents are easy to create and use, and they look incredible. If you want to edit, comment or format anything on your Word document, all you have to do is tap the pencil on the menu bar. Doing so will give you access to all of these capabilities. After you have made changes to your Word document, you can easily share it via email or save the document.
Using Excel
Like Word documents, all of the features of Excel are scaled to perfectly fit the screen of your Android phone. On Excel, you can create charts, use AutoSum features and filter data in any tables. Use the Outline View to jump to the worksheet, chart or table you would like. From here, you can also navigate to comments that have been made.
Using PowerPoint
You will be able to review slides, move and hide slides, edit speaker notes and make text edits on PowerPoint right from your phone. Do note that in the navigation bar, a Slide Navigator replaces the Viewing Tools that are usually found on Word and Excel. While in Portrait mode, you will be able to see your slides and notes, edit speaker notes and practice your presentation. In Landscape mode, you can swipe through and view your presentation. The Slide Navigator allows you to quickly jump to any slide. If you want to make changes to the text on a slide, just tap the pencil on the menu bar.
Accessing Settings
Click on the options button and you will be able to access the Office Mobile settings. From here, you will be able to reset Office Mobile, as well as add and identify comments that have been made on your phone.
